Boyfriend: Janus

I may be smiling right now but I’m trying to hold it in
I’m strongly clutching my two hands
You’re being deceived when I’m saying that I’m OK
I am shedding all my tears behind your back

Translations by: K-pop Lyrics

This single is from Boyfriend’s first album entitled “Janus”. It’s a sad song accompanied with an upbeat tempo, so it’s hard not to fall in love with it. I do like the back-up dancers’ outfits better than the Boyfriend’s prince-like attire, but hey, not a bad start for the new band! (´ω`♥)

Yu Yu Hakusho Art on Philippine Jeepney

While we were stuck on Edsa, north bound on our way to SNR for some much needed grocery shopping, I happened to spot a jeepney with a particularly interesting art:

yu yu hakusho art kurama on philippine jeepney

Of all the Yu Yu Hakusho (more commonly known as “Ghost Fighter” in the Philippines) fans out there, I never thought someone would actually put Kurama (aka “Denis”) on their jeep! ヾ(^∇^) I’d usually see the whole gang but not one solely dedicated to my favorite character! (´ω`♥)

I applaud you for the fine details of this piece, whoever the artist may be! And hopefully, I’ll get to see it again and get a better photo! ☆ミ(o*・ω・)ノ

Toma Ikuta and Haruhi Suzumiya - Lotte's Acuo Bubblegum

So let me get this straight: if I chew Lotte’s Acuo Bubblegum, the girls I encounter will become characters from the Melancholy of Suzumiya Haruhi?!

Where to buy this magic bubblegum? Now! щ(ಥДಥщ)

A Second Visit to the Toy Museum

When my uncle asked my brother and I to help out at the Toy Museum last week, I was surprised to see that he had update his collection yet again.

wow toy museum - 20120921

Uncle has been recently getting a lot of field trips from several schools, and the kids can be a handful sometimes, so my brother and I were there to “guard” the displays to make sure nothing gets broken and no one gets hurt.

We get a short break in between school trips, so I decided to run around and test out my new camera, a blue-violet Samsung ST66.

Oh No! Manga Cosplay Camp 2012

With the end of my first convention for the Oh No! Manga franchise comes a rather large array of cosplay photos I was able to take while on break. (´ω`♥)

I was pleasantly surprised at the both the quantity and quality of cosplayers who came to the con. From what I remember, here used to be more “normally dressed” people than cosplayers. Have I been gone that long? ヾ(×× ) ツ

Anyway, more photos after the jump. All of which were previously featured on my cosplay site, Cosplay Holic. (。・ω・。)

Gangnam Style Just Went Global

I doubt anyone on the planet has yet to hear the latest K-pop craze, “Gangnam Style”, and with PSY’s appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show?

I think everyone will be doomed to “dress classy” and “dance cheesy”. (*´ω`)o

I’m not a huge fan of Britney Spears, but points to her for learning this crazy dance on national television. (=゚ω゚)ノ

FT Island: I Wish

If you're still sexy, free and single, then you might want to reconsider after watching this...

Baby, I wish it was me, I wish it was so
Lonely lonely oh my love
I wish your love was me
uh uh uh uh uh uh
Baby, I wish it was me, I wish it was so
Lonely lonely oh, love me
I don’t wanna be alone anymore
uh uh uh I love you
credits: kromanized.com [click for full lyrics]

Those words alone are enough to melt my heart, but Lee Hong Ki's gorgeous smile (and that silly tiara/headband) turned me into gooey jelly~ Can I marry him now? (❁´◡`❁)*✲゚*

Fangirling aside, this song is I Wish (좋겠어Johgesseo), the title track from FT Island's fourth and newest album. I heard that this song was first performed in their recent concert held early this month. Though I'm no longer that updated with the Kpop world, but I really like this group because their music is so awesome. Not to mention, all of the members are pretty cute too, do you agree? “ヽ(´▽`)ノ”☆

Super Junior: Sexy, Free & Single

Hey! It’s no fun if anyone can take you with ease.
A bit higher, stronger la la la la la la
Look above. It will dawn on the one who’s been withstanding.
Endure, endure a bit more la la la la la la

My dear, my dear, believe me more.
Finally I Wake up from my slumber
I become deeper, more like me after the long hardship.
Now I’m heading to the next stage of Upgrade Oh-

Run till you’re out of breath, you who are so awesome.
Have a good time, it’s Party time on a day like today
Have a taste of the victory that jolts your heart.
Now Have a good time, who will stop you? Oh-

Sexy, Free & Single I’m ready too, Bingo

Translations by: K-pop Lyrics

Sorry, I’ve always been a fan of Super Junior, so it’s no surprise that I will feature their song here. Lately, everyone around me seems to be talking about how much their life sucks whether they’re single or in a relationship. Σ(-`Д´-ノ;)ノ This song popped into my head, because hey, when I think about it, I am “sexy, free, and single”~ ヽ(≧∇≦)ノ ♥

宇宙戦隊NOIZ : Narda

I keep seeing links of this in my Facebook news feed, and I thought it was a local group trying to look like a j-rock band, or a visual kei group singing a local song in Japanese.

I am wrong in both accounts, and you have to watch the video to understand why.

If you are from the Philippines, then you would be familiar with Kamikazee's popular hit song, Narda. And if you just watched the video above, then you're probably as bewildered and as overwhelmed as I am right now.

Uchuu Sentai NOIZ (宇宙戦隊NOIZ)  is a Japanese visual kei rock band which was formed back in 1999 and is currently composed of five members -- Angel Taka, Masato, KyoKotaro and Yamato.

According to Wikipedia, "they are known for their energetic music, wild cosplay-like outfits, and live shows full of energy and on stage antics. Their music is very eclectic and has many different elements from genres such as punk, pop, metal, hip-hop and electronica in their sound and thus cannot be properly labeled". Curiosity got the best of me and I listened to some of their songs and watched some PVs. I actually found them quite exciting and enjoyable. ^w^

I don't know why they decided to do a cover of Narda, but I think it's a great song and an awesome rendition. The band has performed live in Davao City last year for the Mindanao Cosplay Summit. They are expected to perform again in Davao on September 7-9, 2012 and during the Best of Anime 2012 event in Manila on September 15-16, 2012.

EXO-M: Mama

MAMA can you please tell me, why people can change
Did those perfect days that I heard of really exist before
I had already long forgotten that I should work harder to love people
I had already long forgotten that my heart should embrace people
Is pretending to be busy a life of only protecting yourself?

Translations by: LalaLaddy

I don't know what is with me and these creepy lyrics, but I can’t resist songs with good beats and violin arrangements. I actually heard this in Korean first, but I fell in love with the Chinese version mainly because I can sing in Chinese but fail miserably in Korean.

Right, next time, I’ll pick a less depressing song to feature. I promise! o(>o<)o

ラブコメ Love Come

love comeA timid anime screenwriter, Miharu has been working hard on finishing his series inspired from his childhood crush, Makie. Unfortunately, he can’t seem to find the inspiration he needs to write a proper ending because he’s still in love with her, even though it has been 17 years since he’s last seen her. He decides to pay Makie a visit (or rather, “stalk her”) at their family’s flower shop where Makie is now the manager.

I’ve seen this show twice on Screen Red Asia, and I still get all these fluffy feelings afterwards. Even the side story of Makie’s assistant Ryoko and the anime voice actor Nishijima had a rather nice touch to it.

Personally, Makie is my favorite character, because it’s not everyday that I get to see a tomboy-ish girl fall in love with (as in my brother’s words) “such a pathetic guy!” I was only interested in watching this because Miharu is an anime screenwriter! How could I resist that?

Oh, and the mere fact that my brother watched this with me should be enough to tell you that this is not one of those long-winding dramas that guys get bored with. It’s a light-hearted, romantic comedy that’s really cute and highly recommended! I should find the DVD copy…

To The Beautiful You

Somebody gave me a link to this teaser trailer for the upcoming Korean drama,  Areumdawun Geodaeege 아름다운 그대에게 (To the Beautiful You) and I thought of sharing it here...

If the setting seems familiar to you, then it's because it is the Korean adaptation of the popular shoujo manga, Hanazakari no Kimitachi e, or Hana Kimi. Created by Nakajo Hisaya, this 23-volume series tells about a young girl who disguises herself as a boy so that she could enter the all-boys high school which her athlete idol also attends.

This has already been successfully adapted into TV dramas last 2006 in Taiwan, and twice (2007, 2011) in Japan. I wonder if this Korean version will offer us anything new and exciting? The cast includes young performers like SHINee's Choi Min Ho (remember this video?), Choi Seul Ri, Suh Joon Young and a bunch of names I'm honestly not familar with. I hope this will turn out really well like other manga-based K-dramas like Boys Over Flowers and City Hunter. Let's just cross our fingers and wait expectantly for its premiere this August 15! \(^o^)/

Oh No! Manga Cosplay Camp

Ironic how I draw death when it’s the official series launch! (ノಠ益ಠ)ノ  ┻━┻

I think my brain’s been corrupted. Why am I drawing strange things like this after a long break? I do like the overall “dramatic” effect, but it just looks plain creepy!

Anyway, I hope I’ll see you guys at the launch. It’s on a Sunday, the 29th of July 2012 at the SM North Sky Dome! We’ve got a ton of prizes in store, so please pass by and meet all your favorite Oh No! Manga artists~! ヽ(・ω・ゞ)

On another note, who said blue and red can’t be used together in one scene? Break all the rules, I say, break them!

Wow Toy Museum

ah my goddess! banpei figure

When I went to visit my uncle some time ago, he had already updated his Toy Museum with two new rooms full of toys. The museum is located in his house, so it makes me wonder if he will still have a room to sleep in once he’s done displaying all the toys in his collection.

Rasysa Dot Com!

When summer is about to end, we seek for a refreshing change before taking that first step back into school or work. And, what better way to end the summer than by getting a new hair cut? But, finding the perfect hair style before heading to the salon can be quite a tedious task sometimes. So, to help with that problem, I have just the solution for you!

I introduce to you ...RASYSA!
Now, just what exactly is Rasysa?

Rasysa (www.rasysa.com) is a Japanese website dedicated to helping out with beauty issues, specifically, with hair styles. The website showcases photos of various hair styles that girls freely upload into the website. They usually upload more than one photo of their hairstyle to show how it was styled in different angles. Aside from that, they can opt to indicate who their hair stylist is for your future reference. Below the photos of the girls, there are also 'like' buttons represented by a heart shape, just in case you want to let them know that you do actually like their hair styles. It's a bit like a facebook post, but solely dedicated to hair styles!

Having a tough time because the website's in Japanese? That won't be a problem! As you scroll down from the main page of the site, you will eventually find this picture:

This is the 'Style Pick Up,' which displays the different lengths and styles of hair that you could use as reference for your future hair style. Now, all you have to do is click the image!

After,  you will be given three options: Short, Medium, and Long. Just click one according to your desired hair length, then you will be eventually taken to a page with the girl's photo filling up about half of the page. And, no. That's not the gallery yet! The next step is to click this button:
And then, you will finally be taken to the gallery! The gallery will show you numerous photos with a variety of hair styles that you could use as reference. If you're curios as to how the gallery looks, here's a little print-screen of it!

If you want to go and see more hair styles, why not try visiting the website so you can see all the styles it has to offer? So, if you're seeking to get a new hair style just before the beginning of classes, I definitely suggest for you to try out this site! Enjoy!

Yohio: Sky☆Limit

16-year-old Swedish boy (that's right, I said boy), Yohio is turning heads in the J-Rock scene with his doll-like features and awesome guitar skills.

The European born singer became interested in Japanese culture after being introduced to anime at the age of ten. He then learned Japanese and began following his Japanese idols’ blogs and Twitter.

It wasn’t long after that he started a Swedish Visual Kei band called Seremedy and then signed to Universal Music Japan.

If that isn’t a real live bishounen, I don’t know what is. Isn’t it a crime that he seems to be much prettier than a girl?! T_T;;;

I happened to come across a website/blog a few months ago and have religiously checked once a week (as they update it every Wednesday). I really think this is such a novel idea: cooking/baking based on the food items seen in-game.

MYNAME: Message

You got a message: I write down my heart
A message: I will stay up all night again today
Don’t ignore my text, I wait for your reply
Oh oh oh oh oh oh, this message that I send sincerely
Oh oh oh oh oh oh, I wait for your reply

Translations by: SNSD Lyrics

Here's a song that I found to be really cute. I like the though of someone waiting all night just to see if I reply to their text message~ ♥ Although if anyone actually did, I might scold them the morning after. xD

When I first heard this on Channel V, I immediately went to look for more songs from MYNAME. Unfortunately, there were none! I thought that maybe this group had disbanded after this one-hit-wonder, but it would appear that they had just celebrated their 100th day in the music industry last February. I hope they release more songs soon! ♥

ABSOLUTE DARLING

We are all quite familiar with Watase Yuu, creator of the popular shoujo series Fushigi Yuugi and Ayashi no Ceres. Some of us might also be familiar with her other works, particularly the 6-volume manga Zettai Kareshi (Absolute Boyfriend), which spawned a live action J-drama in 2008. This tells the story of a naive girl named Izawa Riiko who has bad luck in finding a boyfriend, and the love triangle that ensues between her, her cyborg doll Tenjo Night, and her childhood friend Asamoto Soushi

There is an upcoming Taiwanese drama adaptation which will star Goo Hye Sun, the multi-talented korean artist known for her playing Geum Jan Di in Boys Before Flowers, and Fahrenheit member Jiro Wang, who has also appeared in many manga-turned-Taiwanese drama adaptations like It Started with a Kiss, Hana Kimi and Momo Love.

Here's a steamy teaser trailer of this series~

Definitely looking forward to this! (≧∇≦)/

Absolute Darling  (絕對達令), starts airing this Sunday, April 8, in FTV/GTV. A South Korean adaptation will presumably follow later this year.

告白 Confessions

告白 kokuhaku confessions

When Moriguchi Yuko announced that she will resign as a junior high teacher, she revealed to her class that her daughter, Manami, did not die of accidental drowning. Manami was murdered by two students in her class, whom she referred to as “Student A” and “Student B”. However, even though she knew who the culprits were, she also knew that they will escape punishment because they were still legal minors. Moriguchi-sensei then decided to take matters into her own hands and teach her unruly students that each and every life is “precious”.

I’m so happy that Destiny Cable added Screen Red to our list of channels! Subtitled Asian films without the horrible dubbing? I’m all for it! ♥ I just watched this film a while ago, and I have to admit, I’m thoroughly impressed! Especially by Takako Matsu’s performance as well as Yukito Nishii! x3 And apparently, I wasn’t the only one:

Despite its controversial subject matter, the film opened number 1 at the Japanese box office, grossing over 3.85 billion yen during its run, and won ‘Picture of the Year’ at the 2011 Japan Academy Prize.

Source: Screen Red Asia

I missed the first few minutes of this, so I wouldn’t mind watching it again. Next time, without my brother, who can’t keep up reading the subtitles and decided to keep asking me what just happened. =A=;;; L-lol… Besides, I want to know if what happened in the end, really did happen, or was it really “just kidding”? ;o; Such a cliffhanger!

A Phoenix’s Spirit

a.illusions rei kuassary - hakuoki versionI dare you to say the title of this blog post 10 times really fast!

It would appear that this has become somewhat obligatory for the authors of this blog; and being the boss owner, I guess I should jump into the bandwagon myself!

Hello, minna~ My name is 許・美美 (Xi Mei-Mei). I’m better known in the forums as Rei Kuassary, so feel free to call me Rei. I joined Anime Illusions back in 2000, and I grew to love being an otaku~ Sadly, the forums are now a thing of the past, but I’m happy to see Anime Illusions live on in different forms of media. ♥

…I have no idea what else I can put in here, so I’ll just do what Nanase did and write 5 random things about me:

  1. My forum name, “Rei Kuassary”, is a combination of two characters: Ray Yozora of Shin Hakenden and Maria “Kuassary” Tachibana of Sakura Wars.
  2. I’m of Chinese descent, though born and raised in the Philippines. For some reason though, English is my first language, which is not the same as any other member of my family. o_o;;; Go figure?
  3. I like to draw. A lot. :D I’ve been published in local magazines, once in Mango Jam, and another (hopefully) soon on Oh No! Manga.
  4. I prefer to work at night and sleep in the morning, because there are less distractions at night. Plus, the weather is much cooler and easier to work with.
  5. I, in no way, look anything like the image I used for this post. That’s just me being vain, using my own artwork for my intros like a boss because I am the boss. 8(b

And that’s it for now! Hello, are you still reading this? Lol~ Anyway, welcome to our little blog! I hope we can entertain you with our rants and raves about… well, just about everything under the sun! x3 Sit back, relax, and enjoy your stay! ♥

Broccoli is Not Happy

Broccoli, the company that has brought us the otome game (turned drama cd, anime, and rhythm game) Uta no ☆ Prince-sama ♪, has publicly announced their disapproval of fans uploading their CD content on public sites such as twitter, tumblr, and other public blogs.

While they have mentioned taking some sort of legal action already, I’d advice the fans, just like Bread Master Lee mentioned, to take down any Uta☆Pri audio off their sites. After all, we don’t want them to cancel the second season of the anime coming in August 2012 now, do we?

And besides, if they’re already having this much trouble with Uta☆Pri, how are we suppose to convince them to translate the otome games the same way Hakuoki did?

Influenced by the Game

blog_01
Most gamers would like to think that some video games have influenced their lives one way or another. I’ve come across numerous blogs that usually talked about top 10 games of all time but I’ve decided that the cliché is overused and thought of coming up with a different list. Video games that influenced my life and those around me. A fair warning though, once you click continue to read, be prepared for a wall of text.

So here are the games that pretty much influenced my life, in no particular order.

Proud Mum-to-be!

It's all about baby fever here in the Venus house! Or puppy fever rather :) As some of you may know I am getting a puppy in around 3 weeks times (Providing he is on food and no longer needing his mummy's milk)

We are calling him "Squish" because he is the most adorable, snuggable and lovable little guy ever! I went to visit him for the first time today for about 1.5-2 hours and he just snuggled and licked me and fell asleep a number of times in the crook of my arm :)
Alot of my time in the next few weeks will be preparing for his arrival and then training him etc xD I know this isn't exactly anime/game etc. related, but I might just have to bore you all with my tales of the Squish :)
I am going to be uploading a heck of a lot of photos of him xD but rather than bore you with them, I'll just add a link to my photobucket in my links for it :)

I have also begun to play a little Pangya again. Not as regularly as I would like, but I tend to not like playing unless it's with a friend (aka AI peep ;3 ) so I don't play too much. I just hit Junior E yesterday though! Woot! And I've also been getting a "little" bit better with getting a few more Eagles and Alba's but alas still no HIO's xD
I have also began drawing again (Finally!!) Not a great deal or in that much detail but I have started doing the odd sketch for people at work, and I also made a small gift for one of the female bosses at work who is pregnant :) She almost cried she loved it so much. I don't think they're as good as they COULD be (Always self-critical) but it's nice to see people appreciating my drawings/doodles and if it makes them happy and smile well then that's ok with me :)

Not really too much more has happened recently :) I finished Mass Effect 3, and was highly disappointed in the ending -.- after 3 games you really want an ending that you feel rewards you for sticking around and putting so much time and effort into the games... and this just felt... well... cheated >.> it was short, didn't really answer much and I heard there's a petition to change the ending. I don't know if that will end up going through but who knows. It was a good game for sure, just a shame about the ending. The multiplayer is super fun and I hear that they are going to be releasing new DLC for it eventually so that will be nice if they turn it into something you can continue to play and get enjoyment out of. Who knows though. We shall see.
As for now, it's goodbye from me and lil' Squish :)

Toe - Live in Manila: Aftermath

"TOE-gasm!"

That's pretty much the "word" that sums up my experience while watching Toe's concert here in Manila last Tuesday, March 20, 2012. I'm still pretty much overwhelmed by positive mixed feelings towards the whole experience. Toe is all about passion, and invoking that same feeling from their audience.

To the unfamiliar, Toe is a band based in Japan, composed of four members: Kashikura Takashi on drums, Mino Takaaki and Yamazaki Hirokazu on guitar, and Yamane Satoshi on bass guitar. They're music somewhat sprung out from the experimental or math-rock genre, which is very much influenced by progressive rock. (Known progressive rock musicians are Frank Zappa and John cage.)

SPRING 2012 IS HERE!

[ click image for full view! ]

I think it's high time we live up to our name and post something related to anime. And as your resident hoarder, may I present to you the line-up for Spring 2012! I'll just be raving about my picks, but by no means don't let it affect your own choices!

So I based my selection from the chart I got from this site (many thanks to the people who painstakingly pieced this together!). For purposes of continuity, I am definitely picking up the second seasons for Fate/ZeroPhi-Brain -Kami no Puzzle-Kimi to Bokuand flash-turned-TV-animation Haiyore! Nyaruko-san. Also getting a sure spot in my list is Hiiro no Kakera, which is based on the popular otome game by Idea Factory, the same team who brought us Hakuouki. I expect the anime graphics will not be as awesome as the game CG, but I'm still keeping my hopes up that it will have a great story. In contrast, I am very much looking forward to the excellent visuals of Production I.G.'s Shining Hearts - Shiawase no Pan- and KyoAni's Hyouka. I will also be getting Zetman and Sankarea

Keeping my download list short(?) with these NINE titles, though I might also check out the gag shows Shirokuma Cafe and Gakkatsu! and maybe the first few episodes of JormungandMedaka Box, Accel WorldTasogare Otome x Amnesia and noitaminA's Tsuritama to see if I will like them enough to follow.

For movies, OVAs, extras and such, I will be keeping an eye out for  Kimi ni Iro Machi OVA, Another episode 0, UN-GO episode 0, Rurouni Kenshin: Shin Kyoto-hen OVA, Sacred Seven: Shirogane no Tsubasa and the extra episodes for Fate/ExtraC3, Kobato, Thermae Romae, and Prince of Tennis. Not in this chart but also slated for a spring release are the promising anime movies Space Battleship Yamato 2199, S-CRY-ED Alteration II Quan,  Gothicmade - Hana no Utame, Momo e no Tegami by Production I.G., and Deva Zan the film directorial debut of THE Yoshitaka Amano.

*whew!* Making this post gave me quite a headache. @__@

So those are my Spring 2012 picks. Let me know yours! /(^w^)/

B1A4: O.K.

Last Thursday, I had to travel to Ortigas to get some paperworks done. As with many commuters, I like having my mp3 player with me to keep me company during the long walks and boring rides on the MRT.

This song? It was playing on loop the entire day, and I’m still not tired of it.

O.K girl, I’m all yours, yes man
I’ll do everything for you
O.K girl, from now on, I’m yours
I love you
I’m your man (You’re my woman)
You have all of me forever
From head to toe, I love you

Translations by: Maki Kawaii

The upbeat music was a lovely companion for the entire day~ And it doesn’t help that I kept picturing Gongchan and Jinyoung in my head which kept me smiling like and idiot the whole day. Not to mention CNU’s “unique” look!

Oh, and did you know? B1A4 is not a based on paper sizes, but on their blood type. Baro is the only one who has Type B, and the other 4 boys have Type A. ♥

I Wonder If You Hurt Like Me

I must admit that the first time I saw the korean ballad group 2AM on TV, I didn't like them at all. But a friend told me to watch their newest video and... and I couldn't help but fall in love with it! (^w^)<3 And I thought of sharing it here as well.

"I wonder if all day long you're living in memories like this, just like me..."

"I Wonder If You Hurt Like Me" is about a guy who cannot forget about the girl from his past and is suffering emotionally deep down, and he wonders if the girl also feels his pain. (Many thanks to the english translator for this~!) There is just something so sad about the message of the song. I'm not much of a ballad fan, but I find the melody of this song pleasant and poignant, as if tugging at edges my heart. The video is very beautiful, with all the artistic expressions of paper flying and images blurring and the girl's bright red hair nicely and sharply contrasting against the soft monochromes. I also like the intro with the really adorable glass piano music box, but thought that scene with the girl in the cabinet with candles and stuffs was hauntingly freaky... ( o__o )

2AM is a four-member group under JYP Entertainment, the record label known for managing artists like Rain (before he started his own company) and Wonder Girls (who made their mark in the Philippines with their single, "Nobody"). 2AM debuted in July 2008, and with the six-member group 2PM make up the boyband One Day.The members of 2AM are Jo Kwon (leader), Lee ChangminIm Seulong and Jung Jinwoon. They have released a number of studio and mini-albums, and have also started making their way in Japan with the release of their Japanese single early this year.

A New Challenger Appears: Nanase

I realized I have not been able to introduce myself properly and had proceeded in writing a blog post. People from A.I. call me “Nanase”. I first joined the forums at around 2003-2004 (my memory fails me). I was pretty active in both the IRC channel and forums until my college days. I won’t elaborate much on this lest I give my age away.

I had derived the name “Nanase” from the Street Fighter EX Series.

I think the best way to introduce myself is to tell you four random things about me.

  1. I’m a girl gamer. I’m currently trying to collect as much trophies as I can in Dragon Age: Origins.
  2. I’m a bookworm. When I’m on the road, or if I have free time, I try to read as much as I can. I always go to second-hand bookstores. Buying books there makes me feel like I’m saving them from extinction.
  3. I love to sing (but it doesn’t mean I’m pretty good at it). I’m in a band that mostly covers Tokyo Jihen songs (although we play different music from time to time).
  4. I’m currently working. I work at one of the top ad agencies. I’m one of the few who can actually say that I’m quite proud and happy with what I’m doing right now.
I hope you enjoy your time here, reading our blog. :)

Enter: Squareh00r

Hello world!

First of all, I would like to ask for your patience and forgiveness as this (in all honesty) is my very first venture into writing an entry for a group or a site which is not my own personal one :))

Second, its just about time to introduce myself. Hello again!  I am Chip, or for anything and everything else, is the Squareh00r.  Why?  Basically because during the PS1 days, I've tried to collect not only all the RPG games released on the system (yes, all, even that crappy game called Shadow Madness which I despise oh so much), but also all of the games that Squaresoft (now known as Square-Enix) has released.

Isao Machii: Modern Day Samurai

I watched this twice… then I watched it again. I couldn’t believe what I was seeing, but there’s no denying what Isao Machii, Guinness World Record holder, has done in this film.

He sliced a BB gun pellet, fired from 70 feet, traveling over 200 miles per hour, with his katana or samurai sword.

Who said the samurai no longer exists? This guy is amazing.

さようなら, 東京事変 (Goodbye, Tokyo Jihen)

After 7 years of soulful music from Tokyo Jihen ( 東京事変), the Japanese band held their final performance at the culmination of their live tour, "Tokyo Jihen live tour 2012 Domestique Bon Voyage", last Feb. 29. Millions of fans from all over the world gave their bon voyage to Tokyo Jihen through multiple live screenings in various countries.

As an avid fan of Tokyo Jihen and Shiina Ringo, it was quite sad for me and my band to hear of their final hurrah. In a way, their songs were monumental in shaping and broadening my taste in music.

Tokyo Jihen will surely be missed, but their songs live on in their fans' hearts. Here's Toumei Ningen (Invisible Man).

I’m guessing this is thanks to the first ever, English release of the otome game, “Hakuoki: Demon of the Fleeting Blossom”.

Honestly though? Unless they improve on the animation quality, I’m not really looking forward to it… Besides, I don’t think I can take any more depressing storylines. Can’t they make an English version of Uta no Prince-sama instead?

The English invades!

So I guess it's about time I do my introductory post :)

My name is Jeni (short for Jennifer) although most people know me on da intawebs as Venussama, or Venus :) I have had the same nickname since I was around 13 when I discovered mIRC! My nickname comes fro m the FABULOUS Sailor Venus, as Sailormoon is my all time favourite anime (Don't judge!) and Sailor V was always my favourite! I always thought that my personality was a lot like hers and there you go, an internet identity was born!

I only just realised recently that I've been wearing my hair like her everyday for work lol totally not intentional!

I am orginally from England, but I recently moved to the USA and got married and am now happily enjoying my time with my fellow gamer and geek husband :)

MBLAQ: This is War

And now we turn to a more serious song from the Korean group, MBLAQ.

Shut up, I don't even wanna hear it
Beg until your tears dry up
I will see the end of this, just watch
You messed with the wrong person

We were in love and I only had her
But why, why did you touch my girl - no way

Translations by: A Panda's Dream

The first time I heard this song, I admit that I wasn’t too fond of it, if at all. However, when I watched the music video, I was surprised that they added elements from the 2008 film, “Wanted” into the skit. One of the boys actually has the superhuman ability to curve a bullet, and he uses that to - well, I think it would be better if you watched the music video for yourself.

How far would you go to defend your love?

The Good, the Bad and the Geek

vader-dash

Through the years, as I made my way through this story called life… Who am I kidding? Lol, I’ll just post what comes to mind. I was never really the dramatic when it came to writing stuff.

Hit the break below to read the whole story (almost) of my life as an anime otaku, gamer and geek.

SHINee: Hello

I don't know what about this song caught my attention first, but after hearing it on MTV today, I knew that I had to blog about it, even though the song’s already a year old.

When I act like this I realize I’m actually young
[She’s] right in front of me but I don’t know what to do
How do you start love?
People who have loved please tell me
Will there be a day when I hold her hand?
Will there be a day when I kiss her above her closed eyes?

Translations by: Inner Charm

The light-hearted melody and sweet lyrics of a boy who is in love… The song has a nice beat to it that makes me want to sing and dance~ Not only that, the boys from SHINee look like they’re really enjoying themselves in this music video… so much that it’s hard not to like it.

Would you say yes to one of these guys?
