Broccoli is Not Happy

Broccoli, the company that has brought us the otome game (turned drama cd, anime, and rhythm game) Uta no ☆ Prince-sama ♪, has publicly announced their disapproval of fans uploading their CD content on public sites such as twitter, tumblr, and other public blogs.

While they have mentioned taking some sort of legal action already, I’d advice the fans, just like Bread Master Lee mentioned, to take down any Uta☆Pri audio off their sites. After all, we don’t want them to cancel the second season of the anime coming in August 2012 now, do we?

And besides, if they’re already having this much trouble with Uta☆Pri, how are we suppose to convince them to translate the otome games the same way Hakuoki did?

Influenced by the Game

blog_01
Most gamers would like to think that some video games have influenced their lives one way or another. I’ve come across numerous blogs that usually talked about top 10 games of all time but I’ve decided that the cliché is overused and thought of coming up with a different list. Video games that influenced my life and those around me. A fair warning though, once you click continue to read, be prepared for a wall of text.

So here are the games that pretty much influenced my life, in no particular order.

Proud Mum-to-be!

It's all about baby fever here in the Venus house! Or puppy fever rather :) As some of you may know I am getting a puppy in around 3 weeks times (Providing he is on food and no longer needing his mummy's milk)

We are calling him "Squish" because he is the most adorable, snuggable and lovable little guy ever! I went to visit him for the first time today for about 1.5-2 hours and he just snuggled and licked me and fell asleep a number of times in the crook of my arm :)
Alot of my time in the next few weeks will be preparing for his arrival and then training him etc xD I know this isn't exactly anime/game etc. related, but I might just have to bore you all with my tales of the Squish :)
I am going to be uploading a heck of a lot of photos of him xD but rather than bore you with them, I'll just add a link to my photobucket in my links for it :)

I have also begun to play a little Pangya again. Not as regularly as I would like, but I tend to not like playing unless it's with a friend (aka AI peep ;3 ) so I don't play too much. I just hit Junior E yesterday though! Woot! And I've also been getting a "little" bit better with getting a few more Eagles and Alba's but alas still no HIO's xD
I have also began drawing again (Finally!!) Not a great deal or in that much detail but I have started doing the odd sketch for people at work, and I also made a small gift for one of the female bosses at work who is pregnant :) She almost cried she loved it so much. I don't think they're as good as they COULD be (Always self-critical) but it's nice to see people appreciating my drawings/doodles and if it makes them happy and smile well then that's ok with me :)

Not really too much more has happened recently :) I finished Mass Effect 3, and was highly disappointed in the ending -.- after 3 games you really want an ending that you feel rewards you for sticking around and putting so much time and effort into the games... and this just felt... well... cheated >.> it was short, didn't really answer much and I heard there's a petition to change the ending. I don't know if that will end up going through but who knows. It was a good game for sure, just a shame about the ending. The multiplayer is super fun and I hear that they are going to be releasing new DLC for it eventually so that will be nice if they turn it into something you can continue to play and get enjoyment out of. Who knows though. We shall see.
As for now, it's goodbye from me and lil' Squish :)

Toe - Live in Manila: Aftermath

"TOE-gasm!"

That's pretty much the "word" that sums up my experience while watching Toe's concert here in Manila last Tuesday, March 20, 2012. I'm still pretty much overwhelmed by positive mixed feelings towards the whole experience. Toe is all about passion, and invoking that same feeling from their audience.

To the unfamiliar, Toe is a band based in Japan, composed of four members: Kashikura Takashi on drums, Mino Takaaki and Yamazaki Hirokazu on guitar, and Yamane Satoshi on bass guitar. They're music somewhat sprung out from the experimental or math-rock genre, which is very much influenced by progressive rock. (Known progressive rock musicians are Frank Zappa and John cage.)

SPRING 2012 IS HERE!

[ click image for full view! ]

I think it's high time we live up to our name and post something related to anime. And as your resident hoarder, may I present to you the line-up for Spring 2012! I'll just be raving about my picks, but by no means don't let it affect your own choices!

So I based my selection from the chart I got from this site (many thanks to the people who painstakingly pieced this together!). For purposes of continuity, I am definitely picking up the second seasons for Fate/ZeroPhi-Brain -Kami no Puzzle-Kimi to Bokuand flash-turned-TV-animation Haiyore! Nyaruko-san. Also getting a sure spot in my list is Hiiro no Kakera, which is based on the popular otome game by Idea Factory, the same team who brought us Hakuouki. I expect the anime graphics will not be as awesome as the game CG, but I'm still keeping my hopes up that it will have a great story. In contrast, I am very much looking forward to the excellent visuals of Production I.G.'s Shining Hearts - Shiawase no Pan- and KyoAni's Hyouka. I will also be getting Zetman and Sankarea

Keeping my download list short(?) with these NINE titles, though I might also check out the gag shows Shirokuma Cafe and Gakkatsu! and maybe the first few episodes of JormungandMedaka Box, Accel WorldTasogare Otome x Amnesia and noitaminA's Tsuritama to see if I will like them enough to follow.

For movies, OVAs, extras and such, I will be keeping an eye out for  Kimi ni Iro Machi OVA, Another episode 0, UN-GO episode 0, Rurouni Kenshin: Shin Kyoto-hen OVA, Sacred Seven: Shirogane no Tsubasa and the extra episodes for Fate/ExtraC3, Kobato, Thermae Romae, and Prince of Tennis. Not in this chart but also slated for a spring release are the promising anime movies Space Battleship Yamato 2199, S-CRY-ED Alteration II Quan,  Gothicmade - Hana no Utame, Momo e no Tegami by Production I.G., and Deva Zan the film directorial debut of THE Yoshitaka Amano.

*whew!* Making this post gave me quite a headache. @__@

So those are my Spring 2012 picks. Let me know yours! /(^w^)/

B1A4: O.K.

Last Thursday, I had to travel to Ortigas to get some paperworks done. As with many commuters, I like having my mp3 player with me to keep me company during the long walks and boring rides on the MRT.

This song? It was playing on loop the entire day, and I’m still not tired of it.

O.K girl, I’m all yours, yes man
I’ll do everything for you
O.K girl, from now on, I’m yours
I love you
I’m your man (You’re my woman)
You have all of me forever
From head to toe, I love you

Translations by: Maki Kawaii

The upbeat music was a lovely companion for the entire day~ And it doesn’t help that I kept picturing Gongchan and Jinyoung in my head which kept me smiling like and idiot the whole day. Not to mention CNU’s “unique” look!

Oh, and did you know? B1A4 is not a based on paper sizes, but on their blood type. Baro is the only one who has Type B, and the other 4 boys have Type A. ♥

I Wonder If You Hurt Like Me

I must admit that the first time I saw the korean ballad group 2AM on TV, I didn't like them at all. But a friend told me to watch their newest video and... and I couldn't help but fall in love with it! (^w^)<3 And I thought of sharing it here as well.

"I wonder if all day long you're living in memories like this, just like me..."

"I Wonder If You Hurt Like Me" is about a guy who cannot forget about the girl from his past and is suffering emotionally deep down, and he wonders if the girl also feels his pain. (Many thanks to the english translator for this~!) There is just something so sad about the message of the song. I'm not much of a ballad fan, but I find the melody of this song pleasant and poignant, as if tugging at edges my heart. The video is very beautiful, with all the artistic expressions of paper flying and images blurring and the girl's bright red hair nicely and sharply contrasting against the soft monochromes. I also like the intro with the really adorable glass piano music box, but thought that scene with the girl in the cabinet with candles and stuffs was hauntingly freaky... ( o__o )

2AM is a four-member group under JYP Entertainment, the record label known for managing artists like Rain (before he started his own company) and Wonder Girls (who made their mark in the Philippines with their single, "Nobody"). 2AM debuted in July 2008, and with the six-member group 2PM make up the boyband One Day.The members of 2AM are Jo Kwon (leader), Lee ChangminIm Seulong and Jung Jinwoon. They have released a number of studio and mini-albums, and have also started making their way in Japan with the release of their Japanese single early this year.

A New Challenger Appears: Nanase

I realized I have not been able to introduce myself properly and had proceeded in writing a blog post. People from A.I. call me “Nanase”. I first joined the forums at around 2003-2004 (my memory fails me). I was pretty active in both the IRC channel and forums until my college days. I won’t elaborate much on this lest I give my age away.

I had derived the name “Nanase” from the Street Fighter EX Series.

I think the best way to introduce myself is to tell you four random things about me.

  1. I’m a girl gamer. I’m currently trying to collect as much trophies as I can in Dragon Age: Origins.
  2. I’m a bookworm. When I’m on the road, or if I have free time, I try to read as much as I can. I always go to second-hand bookstores. Buying books there makes me feel like I’m saving them from extinction.
  3. I love to sing (but it doesn’t mean I’m pretty good at it). I’m in a band that mostly covers Tokyo Jihen songs (although we play different music from time to time).
  4. I’m currently working. I work at one of the top ad agencies. I’m one of the few who can actually say that I’m quite proud and happy with what I’m doing right now.
I hope you enjoy your time here, reading our blog. :)

Enter: Squareh00r

Hello world!

First of all, I would like to ask for your patience and forgiveness as this (in all honesty) is my very first venture into writing an entry for a group or a site which is not my own personal one :))

Second, its just about time to introduce myself. Hello again!  I am Chip, or for anything and everything else, is the Squareh00r.  Why?  Basically because during the PS1 days, I've tried to collect not only all the RPG games released on the system (yes, all, even that crappy game called Shadow Madness which I despise oh so much), but also all of the games that Squaresoft (now known as Square-Enix) has released.

Isao Machii: Modern Day Samurai

I watched this twice… then I watched it again. I couldn’t believe what I was seeing, but there’s no denying what Isao Machii, Guinness World Record holder, has done in this film.

He sliced a BB gun pellet, fired from 70 feet, traveling over 200 miles per hour, with his katana or samurai sword.

Who said the samurai no longer exists? This guy is amazing.

さようなら, 東京事変 (Goodbye, Tokyo Jihen)

After 7 years of soulful music from Tokyo Jihen ( 東京事変), the Japanese band held their final performance at the culmination of their live tour, "Tokyo Jihen live tour 2012 Domestique Bon Voyage", last Feb. 29. Millions of fans from all over the world gave their bon voyage to Tokyo Jihen through multiple live screenings in various countries.

As an avid fan of Tokyo Jihen and Shiina Ringo, it was quite sad for me and my band to hear of their final hurrah. In a way, their songs were monumental in shaping and broadening my taste in music.

Tokyo Jihen will surely be missed, but their songs live on in their fans' hearts. Here's Toumei Ningen (Invisible Man).

Hakuoki Gets a Third Season

hakuoki: reimeiroku

  1. Hakuouki Sekkaroku OVA for Kazama Chikage arc (Release date June 2012)
  2. Hakuouki Reimeiroku TV Anime announced for summer 2012.
OP song by Kurosaki Maon and ED song by Mao.
  3. Hakuouki Theatrical Release for 2013. 2 parts. New story. Yoshioka Aika will be singing the theme song.

Source: Degenki | Translated by: ~ S n o w d r o p s *~

I’m guessing this is thanks to the first ever, English release of the otome game, “Hakuoki: Demon of the Fleeting Blossom”.

Honestly though? Unless they improve on the animation quality, I’m not really looking forward to it… Besides, I don’t think I can take any more depressing storylines. Can’t they make an English version of Uta no Prince-sama instead?

The English invades!

So I guess it's about time I do my introductory post :)

My name is Jeni (short for Jennifer) although most people know me on da intawebs as Venussama, or Venus :) I have had the same nickname since I was around 13 when I discovered mIRC! My nickname comes fro m the FABULOUS Sailor Venus, as Sailormoon is my all time favourite anime (Don't judge!) and Sailor V was always my favourite! I always thought that my personality was a lot like hers and there you go, an internet identity was born!

I only just realised recently that I've been wearing my hair like her everyday for work lol totally not intentional!

I am orginally from England, but I recently moved to the USA and got married and am now happily enjoying my time with my fellow gamer and geek husband :)

MBLAQ: This is War

And now we turn to a more serious song from the Korean group, MBLAQ.

Shut up, I don't even wanna hear it
Beg until your tears dry up
I will see the end of this, just watch
You messed with the wrong person

We were in love and I only had her
But why, why did you touch my girl - no way

Translations by: A Panda's Dream

The first time I heard this song, I admit that I wasn’t too fond of it, if at all. However, when I watched the music video, I was surprised that they added elements from the 2008 film, “Wanted” into the skit. One of the boys actually has the superhuman ability to curve a bullet, and he uses that to - well, I think it would be better if you watched the music video for yourself.

How far would you go to defend your love?

The Good, the Bad and the Geek

vader-dash

Through the years, as I made my way through this story called life… Who am I kidding? Lol, I’ll just post what comes to mind. I was never really the dramatic when it came to writing stuff.

Hit the break below to read the whole story (almost) of my life as an anime otaku, gamer and geek.
